I’ve had three nights in a row now that Myles has slept long stretches through til morning.
On Tuesday and Wednesday night he slept for 7 hours straight!! 🙌🏾 I felt so well rested after Tuesday nights triumph that Wednesday night felt like I’d won the lottery twice.
Last night he woke once after a 5 hour stretch, which to be honest I was actually relieved with. My breasts are adjusting to his changing milk feeds and my right boob was so engorged last night it was becoming painful.
The relief I felt when he latched on at 4am to empty my breast was amazing. I’d never felt so happy to breastfeed at that time of night before. 😂 (If you know, you know!) I had to change my right breast pad three times and once on my left side. I haven’t had to do it that often before as they’ve never filled up that much during the night.
I always switch sides when I nurse Myles, but for some reason, my right side fills up a lot quicker. 🤷🏽♀️ It was so full last night that the engorgement pain woke me up and kept me awake for a while. Before Myles had even latched on, my let down was spraying everywhere and my breast pad was heavy and soaked.
Although I’m enjoying all of the catch up sleep the children are giving me at night, I just hope my breasts adjust real soon to Myles night feeds. I’d rather have one engorged breast than not enough sleep any day. I can always express my breast milk to help relieve the pain if I ever get desperate (which I haven’t yet as I don’t want to confuse the “on demand” lactation), but I can’t inject extra sleep without the cooperation of the kids. LOL
