Where Have I Been?

I’m so sorry that I’ve been a bit MIA since my last post, but I have very good reasons why.

I’m now 6 months pregnant but still working 6 evenings a week. We haven’t enrolled E into nursery so during the day, she’s home with me. We’re also moving in the next two weeks, so loads of packing and clearing has been going on with my free time (try doing that with an active toddler thinking she’s helping you, when really she’s just unfolded all the folding you’ve done ever so neatly). E is now super active and requires loads of attention and even though we’re having another baby and preparing for him and the move, we still always make time to play with her regardless of what we “have to” get done.

She says loads of words now and definitely is showing that she is picking up all the languages we have flying around including very minimal sign language. She knows her relatives by their names and even in photographs, she can point them out. She’s a smart little cookie. I’m still repeating everything I say in as many languages as I can so she can understand/remember that it means the same thing.

When I or the hubby come home from work, she gets really excited and shouts “mummy” or “daddy”. Her voice is the cutest. šŸ¤—

She gets a little whiny nowadays but that’s all down to her not being able to communicate the way she wants to. We stay calm and ask her nicely what she’s trying to say. Most of the time we know what she wants so we ask her to ask nicely by helping her construct her sentences. She repeats the words we ask her to say and then at the end, she gets whatever it is she’s asking for (if it’s appropriate of course).

She’s beginning to sing some words from some of the nursery rhymes she listens to too. She can repeat the alphabet when she is fully bothered to stay focused. Most of our language lessons are during nappy changes when I need to try and keep her entertained before she starts rolling over. LOL.

How have you helped your toddler to speak? Is there anything you suggest I try?
